Super Mario Bros. Wonder redefines classic 2D platforming by introducing unexpected level transformations and cleverly hidden pathways. Among the earliest challenges players face is discovering the alternative route tucked away within the game's second course. Finding this hidden path awards an extra collectible and expands your options on the world map.
Triggering the Musical Event
Before you can access the hidden area, you must progress through the level normally until you spot the Wonder Flower. Touching this flower triggers a lively musical number where the local foliage bursts into song. You should follow the musical parade carefully until the performance reaches its natural conclusion.
As the singing ends, the first Wonder Seed will appear on a platform to the far right. Collecting this item completes the musical segment and restores the level to its standard state. Once the environment returns to normal, you are ready to position your character for the secret maneuver.
Reaching the Overhead Pipes
Directly above the area where the first seed appeared, you will notice three distinct warp pipes protruding from the ceiling at various angles. Walk onto the nearby musical note blocks located just to the right of these overhead structures. By building up a running start and jumping from the final note block, you can safely land on top of the furthest right pipe.
Once you are standing securely on the pipe ledge, run along the upper platform toward the left side of the screen. You will encounter an isolated red warp pipe resting horizontally at the end of the walkway. Entering this red pipe will instantly teleport your character into the foreground of the stage.
Navigating the Foreground to the Secret Goal
Operating in the foreground provides a completely fresh perspective as you march past the standard level boundaries. Simply jog to the right along this hidden path, completely bypassing the traditional flagpole visible in the background. Eventually, you will reach another green pipe that guides you back into the main layer.
Stepping out of this final pipe places you directly in front of the secondary flagpole. Jumping onto this hidden goal pole successfully completes the level via its alternative route. This accomplishment rewards you with a third Wonder Seed and unlocks a secret path on the overworld.
Unlocking Additional Rewards
Completing this specific challenge alters the overworld map by spawning a brand new warp pipe directly beneath the course icon. Descending into this newly opened pipe leads to a pleasant encounter with an iconic explorer. Captain Toad is waiting at the bottom of the path to celebrate your discovery.
Speaking with him yields a generous bonus reward of 50 Flower Coins to bolster your collection. This extra currency proves highly useful for purchasing helpful badges and standees later in your adventure. Tracking down this early secret ensures your journey through the Pipe-Rock Plateau starts with maximum rewards.
