The Long Drop is one of the most engaging Treasure Hunts featured in Far Cry 6, set around the picturesque Santos Espinosa Dam in La Joya. Players must solve an environmental puzzle involving sluice controls and hydraulic machinery to recover a key from a trapped worker. Completing this challenge rewards you with valuable resources and the powerful Excavation Execution shotgun.
Reaching the Santos Espinosa Dam Location
To begin this side mission, head to the eastern side of El Este in the Catalina Ridge region. Locate the blue building near the dam structure where a note in an orange box triggers the quest line. Reading this note reveals that regime soldiers forced local workers to lock up crucial military supplies before disaster struck.
Solving the Sluice Control Room Puzzle
To access the locked storage area, you must navigate to the back of the building by climbing onto the roof and dropping down. Inside the control hub, you will find several switches and valves that need to be operated in a precise sequence. Start by hitting the button near the calendar, then press the switch on the side of the hydraulic monitoring machine.
Next, turn the nearby pressure valve down the corridor to balance the system pressure. Return to the main console inside the central office area and hit the final activation switch. This sequence successfully closes the water sluice, allowing safe access to the lower dam area where the worker fell.
Retrieving the Worker Key and Claiming Rewards
With the water flow halted, return to the broken catwalk on the exterior structure. Use your grappling hook to lower yourself down to the rocky ledge where the worker landed. Retrieve the Worker Key from the body and grapple back up to the main platform.
Head over to the locked storeroom door and unlock it using the newly acquired keycard. Inside, open the chest to receive the Excavation Execution shotgun along with experience points. This unique weapon provides excellent close-range firepower for your ongoing guerrilla operations across Yara.
